Brothers and Sisters of the AFFI

Let me be the first to welcome you to the 38th AFFI Biennial Convention. The firefighters of Springfield Local 37 and I are proud to host our state convention.

Over the past year we have been working hard to make sure your stay in Springfield will be enjoyable, while we do the important work of the AFFI during what has been a challenging time for the labor movement in our state.

This year we are planning two events that are unique to Springfield. First, along with the annual golf tournament, we will have a bass tournament on Lake Springfield. This is a low-cost tournament that will only be open to AFFI members. Second, we will host a fish fry at the Firefighters Lake Club on Wednesday night. You'll enjoy award-winning fish and beverages for a low price. Please check out our hospitality room flyer for information on how you can help sponsor that event.

Our city has much to offer if you are attending the convention alone or you choose to bring your family. We will outline your choices upon registration and on our web site at: convention.iaffl37.com. Please make regular visits as the convention gets near.

Our annual golf tournament will be held a Piper Glen Country Club. I can not stress enough how important it is that you register EARLY for this event. We were extremely lucky to secure this course. There is no spillover option and we can only facilitate 128 golfers because our convention is the same week as the LPGA State Farm Classic. Please get the attached flyer to your delegates as soon as possible!

We have included information on the golf tournament, fishing tournament, hospitality rooms, and sponsorship opportunities, including our agenda book. Please take the time to look through the material and support our convention the best that you are able.
